Matt Damon stars with Edward Norton in this one called "Rounders" a gambling film. Worm (Ed Norton)
is released from jail and Mike (Matt) is right there by his side even though he has quit the life he knew before his "poker buddy" went in. Mike's friendship with Worm causes him to get into some
trouble and risk losing everything he has been working hard for, such as his
girlfriend (Gretchen Mol) and his degree at law school. This is a movie about high
stakes, risky friendships, and tough love.

Dogma - 1999

In the fall of 1999 Matt starred in another Kevin Smith film along side his best bud,
Ben Affleck. The film was "Dogma".
The story was a controversial one about two angels trying to "fool
the system" and get back into heaven through a loophole they discovered. The angels
are Bartleby (Ben) and Loki (Matt). The movie also stars Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith as Jay and Silent Bob along with Chris Rock as The 14th Apostle.
Selma Hayak and Jason Lee also join the cast. Canadian
singer Alanis Morrisette makes her big screen debut in this film playing a very hip, sandal-wearing God. Watch the ending credits for a word about a
"Clerks 2" movie coming out.

On Christmas Day, 1999 Anthony Mingella's newest "The Talented Mr. Ripley" came out.
It is a story that takes place in Italy in the 1950's where this "nobody" Tom Ripley (Matt) wants to become a somebody Dickie
Greenleaf (Jude Law), a successful, good-looking son of a wealthy ship
builder. Ripley will stop at nothing to live the life of Dickie and his beautiful girlfriend Marge Sherwood
(Gwenyth Paltrow). This was another challenging role for Matt, he had to lose
weight again for this one. I think it was about 25 lbs. They wanted him to look
thin, frail and pale as the mysterious Tom Ripley. The film nominated for 5 Golden Globes including "Best
Actor" Matt Damon and "Best Picture". A second movie is in the works with John Malkovich
as an older Ripley.

I think this was the one that was going to be called "Planet Ice".
Matt lends his voice only in this full-length partly computer animated film set
in the year 3028. The Drej, an evil alien race has destroyed Earth. Fifteen
years later Cale (voice of Matt)
discovers he has the key, a genetically encoded map to the Titan,
a spaceship that holds the secret to the salvation of the
human race. With the aliens after them Cale, his new crew including
Akima (Drew Barrymore),
one of the only other humans left, and some other strange characters
head off in search of the ship in hopes to get to it before the Drej do. The
film also includes the voice talents of Bill Pullman, Nathan Lane, Janeanne Garofalo,
and John Leguizamo. This is Matt's first voice only role in a motion picture so far in his career.

The Legend Of Bagger Vance - August 4, 2000

"The Legend Of Bagger Vance" is thanks to the directorial excellence of Robert Redford, who also did a little movie you may remember, called "Ordinary People". Mr. Redford won "Best Picture" at the Oscars in 1980 for "Ordinary People". Robert also runs a little event called "The Sundance Film Festival".
Matt, Will Smith, and Charlize Theron all star in this one. The film is about a about a World
War I veteran named Rannulph Junuh (Matt Damon) who returns to the sport
to play in a tournament against two famous golf legends with some help from a
mystical caddy, Bagger Vance (Will Smith) who guides him through more than just the perfect game. This is Robert Redford's movie version of the Steven Press field novel of the same name.

All The Pretty Horses - December 25, 2000

Some passions can never be tamed.
A young Texan named John Grady Cole (Matt Damon) with no real
prospects crosses the border into Mexico with a friend Lacey Rawlins (Henry
Thomas) only to find a job, a love interest named Alejandra de la Rocha (Penelope
Cruz), murder and jail time. Hector de la Rocha (Rubén Blades), Alejandra's father, a wealthy Mexican
rancher, tries to keep the love birds apart. Billy Bob Thorton directs the film
version of this award winning (National Book Award for Fiction and the National
Critics Circle Book Award in 1992) novel by Cormac McCarthy. Thorton's
directorial debut was Sling Blade. Of course, Matt had to learn to ride
horseback for the film.

Finding Forrester - 2000

Jamal Wallace (Robert Brown XVII) is sent to a prestigious prep
school in Manhattan. for scoring exceptionally high on a state wide standardized
exam and being an exceptionally good basketball player. He soon becomes friends
with William Forrester (Sean Connery) a writer. Thanks to thier friendship
William opens up and Jamal is forced to overcome his racial prejudices and
pursue his true dream of writing. This film also stars F. Murray Araham, Michael
Pitt II, Anna Paquin, Busta Rhymes, and Joey Buttafuoco.
Matt has very small role in this film as Steven Sanderson William Forrester's lawyer.
I guess we better watch closely to spot him in this one.

The Third Wheel - Spring 2002

A man accidentally hits a homeless person with his car and then can't
seem to get rid of him the rest of the night. Jay Lacopo (the writer) plays Phil,
the homeless man that gets hit by Michael (Ben Affleck) and Stanley (Luke Wilson).
Matt and Ben are executive producers. Matt has a starring role as Kevin. Denise Richards also
stars in this one. "The Third Wheel" was to be released in theatres summer 2001 by Miramax Films.
The Last I heard is that they canned it, unfortunately.

Matt Damon (Linus Zerga), Andy Garcia (Terry Benedict), and Julia Roberts as Danny's ex-wife Tess and Terry's new love. Less than 24 hours into his parole from a New Jersey penitentiary Danny Ocean springs into a plan of action. The plan is steal over $150 million from three Las Vegas casinos owned by Terry Benedict. Danny rounds up an 11-man crew of specialists to help him including an ace card shark, a master pickpocket and a demolition genius, just to name a few.

"The Bourne Identity" was released in theatres on June 14th, 2002. Jason Bourne (Matt) has no past and he may have no future. His only memory is that he was washed ashore the Mediterranean Sea full of bullet holes. He has
been given a new identity including a new face, a microfilm implanted in his
hip, and four million dollars in a Swiss bank account. Deliriously mumbled words
come from his mouth as if they are some kind of code. With this new identity he is
marked for death (without memory of his past) and literally tossed into a bizarre
world of murder and conspiracy led by Carlos, the world's most dangerous
assassin. Nobody can help him but a woman who once wanted to escape him.

This is the forth and last Jay and Silent Bob movie. This one stars most of the same casts as the other three movies including Ben Affleck, Jason Mewes, Jason Lee, as well as new faces like Mark Hammel, Judd Nelson and Shannon Elizabeth. Matt joins the cast as Will Hunting. Ben plays Holden McNeil. Jason Lee has two characters named Brodie Bruce and Banky Edwards. Jay and Silent Bob go on the internet and discover that Miramax is making a movie about their alter-egos, "Bluntman & Chronic." The adventure begins as they set off for California to stop the evil movie studio from making the flick. Along the way they get into some crazy situations, including being part of a jewel heist and an ape kidnapping. You will have to watch to see if they succeed.
